OCEANSIDE INTL FILM FESTIVAL 2015

(OIFF-2015 OFFICIAL SELECTIONS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED. CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO GALLERY FROM OIFF-2014. See “News” section to see a list of winners of OIFF-2014. Check out new separate OIFF website!)

Held every August, Oceanside International Film Festival officially kicks off a season of various film festivals, which are conducted annually in San Diego county and usually continue through the Fall. Established in 2009, OIFF is an opportunity for independent filmmakers to have their work screened and judged. It also gives the film buffs a jump-start chance for viewing local and international films at a place in Southern California known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and artistic freedom. Film industry guests and audience members alike will appreciate the ocean-infused atmosphere surrounding the city, where the festival is held. Located in the most Northern part of San Diego county and within a short drive from Los Angeles and Orange counties, Oceanside offers miles of sandy beaches ideal for sun-worshiping and surfing. Between screenings, movie aficionados will be able to visit the famous bungalow house featured in “Top Gun” (starring Tom Cruise), California Surf Museum, or the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline – all downtown Oceanside within walking distance from OIFF. Oceanside is also home to a harbor bustling with restaurants and entertainment, and to the historic Mission San Luis Rey, the largest building in California when completed in 1700’s and the most prosperous of the state’s 21 missions, thus earning the name “King of the Missions”. Oceanside International Film Festival is a public event conceived and once again underwritten by Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, OIFF is a committee of OCAF which is a 501c3 non-profit organization (www.ocaf.info ). OCAF brings quality artistic, visual, performance, and musical arts to Oceanside and its surrounding communities. The organizational committee of OIFF is resolved to make its annual event a success with strong industry experience of its members and fun screening techniques to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Among the highlights of the festival will be its traditional red-carpet opening gala, recognition of the industry activists, and closing ceremonies with Best-In-The-Category Awards, Best Picture Trophy, and Audience Choice Awards (see News section of this website for complete list of awards).

The festival showcases features, documentaries, shorts, animation, and student works from filmmakers who have not yet signed distribution agreements and look for recognition among wider audiences. Elevating the chances for landing distribution deals for movies like “Callous” and “Working Class” is one of the high goals of this non-profit organization. (Winner of OIFF-2009’s Best Feature award “Callous” – thanks in part to Oceanside Intl Film Festival – has been propelled to stardom and is now available on DVD. OIFF-2012’s Best Picture “Working Class” has also found its way to distribution. Those are just a couple of many examples.)
